I was the walking embodiment of the desperate mom who resorts to this sort of thing. I was routinely only getting 1-2 hours a night with a “catchup” on the weekend when my husband was able to do an entire night. My husband works incredibly long hours at a high stress job, so doing a 50-50 sleep split was impossible. For his first two months or so, my youngest would only sleep while being held/worn or in a since recalled rocker. What is it about the dat that works for him? Is there a safe way I can replicate that for him? I have bought multiple different swaddles and heating pads etc, but they do not help him sleep on his own. So obviously something about the dat is different from what I am doing. I had my eyes on him the entire time, I really just wanted to see if I could put him down. I 100% am not saying this is safe and I will not risk his life for any reason. If you have read this far and have not downvoted yet I really appreciate it. ![]() I watched his little chest move up and down the whole time, but he slept for 2 1/2 hours and woke up happy! Did the whole eat/change/burp routine and put him back in the dat and got the same result! The next day I tried putting the dat in his bedside bassinet. He instantly fell asleep! I never left his side. I decided I would lay him in it to just see if I could get him used to not being held, but I could still have a lot of contact with him if needed. We were given a dockatot as a shower gift that I had not registered for because they are not really safe. I literally have him in my arms 18 hours a day and I am desperate to try anything. ![]() I have tried every trick in the books (which I have downloaded and listened to while holding him all night) I have a 6 week old who refuses to sleep while not being held.
